Austin, Texas (July 20, 2016) – Hyatt Regency Austin, located on the shores of Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin, has completed a $37 million renovation to its guestrooms and meeting spaces. The hotel will now embark on the final stage of the renovation by updating the design of its lobby.
“We have seen a remarkable transformation to the hotel with the renovated guestrooms and meetings spaces, and look forward to implementing the finishing touches with updates to the lobby,” said Michael Murphy, general manager of Hyatt Regency Austin. “As Austin continues to grow and become a major entertainment, business, tech, and travel hub, we are very excited to embark on a new era with the new and improved property for our guests.”
The hotel has completed a $15 million renovation to its 448 guestrooms. The renovated rooms reflect an urban oasis with music-inspired décor including music-themed artwork. The rooms feature dozens of amenities including brand new 55-inch high-definition televisions, ergonomic work stations, complimentary lightning-fast Wi-Fi, skyline and lakefront views, king and double queen grand beds, deluxe baths, glass showers, in-room coffee stations, and more.
Hyatt Regency Austin also updated and expanded its meeting spaces with a $22 million renovation. The expansion included the addition of the 14,000 square-foot Zilker Ballroom. The new ballroom features a dramatic, two-story atrium, stunning chandeliers, a covered outdoor balcony, and more. With the expansion, the hotel now features more than 33,000 square-feet of meeting space complimented by more than 15,000 square-feet of pre-function space, making it among the largest meeting venues in the city.
The hotel will now embark on the final stage of the complete renovation with a reimaging of the lobby area. The updated lobby will encompass a modern design to reflect the renovated property including new signage, color scheme, and more. It will also feature web check-in as well as high-definition panels displaying the best of Austin’s music scene for guests to enjoy while checking in for their stay. In the spirit of connecting travelers, the hotel will also add a new “Make Space” area on the second floor. The space will be designed to encourage both collaborative group work as well as focused individual work among meeting and business guests.
Hyatt Regency Austin provides guests with easy access to all of the best music, entertainment, and attractions of downtown Austin including South Congress Avenue, 6th Street, Zilker Park, Auditorium Shores, and more. It is also situated just steps away from Congress Avenue Bridge, which houses the nation’s largest urban bat colony. In the summer, guests can sit on the hotel’s patio or on their guestroom balconies to see thousands of bats emerging from the bridge at sunset.
The hotel is situated directly on the Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trail. Guests can walk or bike on the path, or take part in several water activities available on the lake including kayaking, paddleboarding, water biking, scenic boat tours, and more.
